I met Callum Hann during a recent visit to South Australia, where I got the opportunity to participate in a Sprout Cooking class.
I knew from this experience that Callum has a really relaxed and straight forward approach to teaching, which is exactly the way his cookbook comes across. He delivers heaps of helpful tips, from hints on how to entertain at home, to advice on how to organise your kitchen when cooking multiple courses, as well as a fantastic section on flavour combinations (something I struggle with, but so badly want to get right!). I feel like 'I'd Eat That' is the perfect cookbook for someone starting out in the kitchen (much like me!).
I decided to put Callum to the test and treat some friends to one of his recipes, and what better way to test his simple instructions than with a dessert that is considered far from simple - a Soufflé?! This was to be my first attempt at a Soufflé so I made sure to read all the tips first. I felt well prepared and was a little proud at the sight of my Soufflés rising beautifully in the oven a mere thirty minutes after starting out. Happy days!
